It is one of the major activities of the Department through which training is imparted to young women & girls to enable them to take up productive self-employing activities.

The Department provides skill development trainings in the Multi Training Centre presently located at Kohima (Meriema) and Dimapur. Presently, the Centre is providing training on the existing programmes viz. Tailoring and Knitting for a period of 8 months. During 2023-24, altogether 26 women/girls availed training on Tailoring and Knitting. Short term trainings were also provided on Soft Skilling and Hairstyling.

Similar skill development trainings on the existing programmes, viz. Tailoring and Knitting are also provided for a period of 8 months in the Multi Training Centre located at Purana Bazaar, Dimapur as well as other short-term training programmes.

To bring more women centric programmes and facilities closer to the doorsteps of rural women, the Department has constructed Women Resource Centres at Mokokchung and Chozuba (Phek District) and three more in Zunheboto, Wokha and Peren Districts are nearing completion.

Various livelihoods programmes and activities are being implemented in collaboration with North East Network (NEN) Nagaland since 2021 at the Women Resource Centre (WRC), Phek. Activities and awareness generation programmes are also being implemented from time to time in other centres. During 2023-24 a new programme to support innovative women entrepreneurs called the Innovative Entrepreneurship Fund for Women was initiated.

The IDRC located at Purana Bazar, Dimapur has been set up to provide opportunities for women to develop/enhance their skills and to provide support services, capacity building and various vocational training programmes, including assistance to women  in  various capacities and fields.

During 2023-24, with an aim to provide a small fillip for women to reach greater heights, assistance were provided to women under various new initiatives viz. Grant to women for Competitive Exams(NPSC/NSSB); Scholars Grant to women for higher studies(PhD/specialization); New Entrepreneurship Fund Total.
