About the Department

Abstract: with the mandate to “strive towards economic empowerment of women in Nagaland,” efforts have been initiated by the Department of Women Resource Development, Government of Nagaland, towards implementation of the following broad outline of activities:
          • Awareness Generation and Capacity Building
          • Training & Skill Upgradation
          • Promotion of Rural & Urban Entrepreneurship
          • Livelihood Support Intervention
          • Marketing – Training, Support & Linkage
          • Any other women-centric socio-economic development & upliftment

And in line with Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality, the Department has been carrying out multiple initiatives to improve the socio-economic status of women as well as provide support services to mainstream and balance the gender divide, uplift women, and facilitate their self-dependency.

Following are the programmes and activities being implemented annually:
1. Transformative Livelihood Intervention (TLI) Project:
          a. Turmeric Processing Programme, Jalukie
          b. Apparel & Accessories Production Programme
          c. Food Processing & Resource Centre, Meriema
          d. Resource Development Programme for Women (covering various districts)
2. Multi Training Centre, Kohima & Dimapur
3. Integrated Development-cum-Resource Centre (IDRC), Dimapur
4. District Resource & Development Programmes
5. Events (including MykiFest)
6. Convergence Programmes
7. Other Activities
