Resource Development Programme for Women (RDPW)

This programme has been conceived with the basic idea of reaching out to women from all walks of life including the community of farmers/cultivators, as well as to assist and promote women to take up any sustainable livelihood activities. Under this programme, material/financial assistance is being provided to the beneficiaries.

During 2023-24 activities implemented under RDPW include- Local Garlic Cultivation, Khonoma Village; Black Sesame Farming, Pangti Village; Naga King Chilly activity, Ntuma Village; Red Rice Cultivation, Old Shena Village; Job’s Tears Cultivation, Phusachodu Village; Ginger Cultivation, Nizhevi Village; Local Potato farming, Viswema Village; Local Potato farming, Mezoma & Kiruphema; Soya bean cultivation, Shoixe village; Backyard piggery, Wakching; Training on beauty & Wellness; Training on Post-Harvest Management, Value Addition & Marketing and Other income generating activities.

Turmeric Processing Programme (TPP)

Initiated during 2016-17 in Jalukie Area (Peren District). A turmeric processing unit has also been set up during previous year. Raw turmeric are being processed and produced in the form of dry fingers. Financial assistance/material resources are being provided to women farmers. Sensitization programmes on the values of turmeric, basic marketing knowledge etc. and training on pre-& post-harvest management are being imparted from time to time.

During 2023-24, Assistance were provided to 42 farmers.

Marketing linkages and tie-ups for sale of raw turmeric/fingers are being explored through various agencies, including the Nagaland State Agriculture Marketing Board (NSAMB), Dimapur.

Food Processing & Resource Centre

The Centre, based in the Department’s land premises at Meriema, processes a select number of food products, the raw materials of which are sourced locally through women farmers and SHGs.

While some of the products are semi-processed by the farmers themselves through sun-drying, quality control, and final processing are being done at the centre with the use of osmo-dehydrators and other value addition method and means. Quality packaging materials are being used to ensure that there are no leakages and the finished products are being made available in the market under the brand name ‘Myki’. Presently 14 (fourteen) products are registered under FSSAI.

Food products, namely Gooseberry, Wild apple, Turmeric, Dried Pineapple, Popped rice, Ginger, Sumac, Groundnut, Anishi, Roselle, Soya bean Pickle, Dried Bamboo Shoot, and Naga King chilli are being marketed under the Myki brand.
Short-duration training programmes for women in food processing are being imparted from time to time.

During 2023-24 Training on Food Processing (pickling) was provided to 20 women.
Facilitation & support were also extended to women engaged in Myki products.
Myki products are being showcased and sold in variety of platforms and it is rapidly gaining recognition both within and outside the State.

Apparels & Accessories Production Programme

This programme is a major component of the TLI Project wherein a large number of production activities are outsourced to skilled unemployed women on pay per production basis to enable a regular source of income for them while also upgrading their skills as they go about producing a variety of products. The final touches, labelling and packaging are done by the project employees and the ready products are being made available at the Myki Store, Bayavu Colony, Kohima, including in a number of stores and outlets.

Short duration skill development and skill upgradation training programmes on production of both apparels and accessories are being undertaken in batch-wise manner.

During 2023-24, training on embroidery, basic beads making, pattern making, cutting & tailoring were provided to 12 women beneficiaries.
