Khonoma Village marked a historic milestone with the first-ever Chümerie (Garlic) Festival, on 14th March 2025, organized by the Khonoma Women Union. The festival was sponsored by the Department of Women Resource Development under the MYKI Village Adoption Initiative, with co-sponsorship from the Horticulture and Agriculture Departments.
During 2024-25, the department adopted Khonoma village as the first Myki Village to promote and enable sustainable income generating activities based on the strategy of ‘One Village, One Product.’ The Village was selected due to its ideal location and potential for cultivation of local garlic on a much larger scale.
