Grant-in-Aid to NGOs

The Department presently does not have any district infrastructure or personnel. Tasked with the responsibility of being catalysts of change and mobilizing women to become agents of development as opposed to creating parallel infrastructure, the Department has created a mechanism whereby it has partnered with the apex women organization (known as Women Hohos) in all the districts. These Hohos, who are known as Partner NGOs, are involved in conceptualizing, implementation and monitoring the various programmes of the Department through a board named ‘District Women Development Programme Monitoring Committee’ (DWDPMC). This committee is chaired by the respective Deputy Commissioners of the districts. The Partner NGOs and the DWDPMC play a very important role in the selection of beneficiaries and implementation of the Department programmes at the grassroots level.

Grant-in-aid is provided to NGOs who are genuinely working in the field of social- economic uplift of women and also to Department Partner NGOs at the district and sub-divisional levels for implementing, monitoring and supervising departmental activities.

*It is subjected to fund availability of the Department.
